Giving back is one of life’s most rewarding experiences, and each year Mandela Day is an opportunity to celebrate equality, transformation, and kindness as South Africans and a global community.
Since 2016, the Balwin Foundation has led Balwin Properties’ social responsibility objectives and worked towards positively impacting the communities we operate in.
In addition to developing skills within the construction, property, engineering and associated disciplines through funding and support, the Balwin Foundation runs programmes for youth, water and safety initiatives, and charity drives and donations in our Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal, and Western Cape communities. For Mandela Day 2022, the Balwin Properties and Balwin Foundation teams:
- Partnered with the Klipfontein View Kasi FM radio station on a clean-up initiative in Klipfontein, Midrand.
- Donated blankets to the To Help Others (2hO) organisation and an R1000 voucher to a local church in Kraaifontein, Western Cape.
- Donated blankets to Umhlanga Women’s Association, prepared meals at Umhlanga Spar and donated solar panels to Ballito informal settlement residents with LUAH.
Mandela Day 2023 is themed The Legacy Lives on Through You, inviting us to consider how Nelson Mandela’s vision for South Africa lives on through us and our deeds.
