A three-story-tall, spectacular piece of artwork featuring a majestic sea turtle, is the creation of a Balwin Foundation-funded artist, Giffy Duminy.
Painted on a wall at the WESSA Treasure Beach Education Centre on The Bluff, the artwork aims to not only celebrate these wonderful creatures, but it also intends to spotlight the huge threat that plastic pollution poses to the lives of sea turtles.
‘Plastic blocks their digestive systems and slowly kills them’, explains Giffy. He illustrated a plastic packet, disguised among jellyfish to show this visual connection. To find out more, read here.
