Balwin Foundation launches a Recycling Youth Training Programme with the INtsika Yethu Foundation to upskill and uplift 50 youth waste pickers in the Strand area to become economically active whilst making a difference to the environment.
The project will be targeting to train a total of 50 Local Waste Pickers who are youth from Lwandle, Nomzamo and Asanda Village in Strand. The 50 youth must have been involved in recycling activities such as recycling glass, cans, cardboard, PET bottles, paper and plastic. Preferences will be given to people that have track record or proof of existing recycling activities. The 50 trainees will be provided with a recycling start-up kit which includes personal protective equipment, bulks bags, safety gloves, reflective vests etc. We are very excited about this project and we are looking forward to the success stories as the project commences throughout the year. In our organisation we are very committed to increasing environmental awareness through waste management and mitigation by supporting community based green initiatives such as recycling and community clean ups.
