On Women’s Day, an inspiring event took place that brought together 93 young ladies from Die Fakel School near Thabo Eco Estate, Maphutu secondary school near Munyaka, and Kidshaven Orphanage near Greenpark. Hosted by a collective effort from Balwin Foundation, Balwin Properties, AWiA, CCEHSA, Cuplings, Kidshaven, and Dotdigital, the day unfolded at the Ullman Park Recreation Centre.
The event was designed to provide these young women with an empowering and uplifting experience. Throughout the day, they engaged in a series of impactful lectures, received valuable advice, participated in engaging games.
AWiA, CCESHA, Dotdigital and Cuplings all addressed the ladies opening various careers and opportunities that the ladies could pursue when finishing school, giving them a sense of hope and guidance for their future.
One of the highlights of the event was the one-on-one mentorship sessions, where the girls had the privilege of connecting with role models and mentors. Cuplings Ambassador Harriet Manamela, Sharon Marobe facilitator from Cuplings, Hlubani Chauke volunteer from CCEHSA, Kgololosego Masika Integration Analyse from Dotdigital, Ruth Mc Illerin Environmental Junior MMC from COJ, Nthara Moodley the public speaker for the junior MMC of COJ, Gladys Moahlolo den mother from Kidshaven, Veronica Aswani from AWiA, and Jessica Mkhwanazi a student from Balwin Foundation all generously shared their insights and experiences with the young participants.
As a token of appreciation, the young ladies were treated to a sumptuous meal and delightful treats, ensuring they felt truly valued and cherished throughout the day. Additionally, they received goody bags filled with thoughtful gifts, which were generously donated by Thembalami Care Centre, Kidshaven, Jenvilles Ministries, Edenvale Sewing Club, Zhara O’Reilly, and the Balwin Foundation.
The event’s collaborative effort and the dedication of everyone involved made this Women’s Day truly memorable for these young women. By offering them mentorship, guidance, and a sense of camaraderie, the event instilled confidence and inspiration, leaving a lasting positive impact on their lives.
